Eric Jones Sr., known as “Rick” and “Cookie Man,” loving son of Doretha E. Stovall and Richard Jones, was born January 13, 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on June 25, 2020.
Eric received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System, later completing his general education diploma along with the completion of a host of programs and certifications. He worked briefly for Maryland General Hospital prior tom working independently as a laborer.
Eric’s love for his family was a motivating factor which steered him through difficult times throughout his life. The gifts Eric receivedfrom his mother Doretha are multiplied and he attempted to share them with others. From time to time Eric would engage in things that worried us, confused us or angered us. Why? Because even though he was an adult, he was her child and he was human. Sometimes as loving parents we must be patient with our children’s shortcomings (Just as they must alsobe patient with ours). Sometimes patience is the price we pay for being responsible parents. After all, look how patient our Creator has been with us. Eric remains a humble and gentle spirit loved by many, missed by more.
He was preceded in death by: three sisters, Cynthia Michelle Stovall, Alisa Yvonne Baker Massey Johnson and Yolanda Jones; one brother, Reginald Stovall and nephew, Darius Massey.
Eric leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Doretha E. Stovall; step father, Stewart Pooler; father, Richard Jones; wife, Sonia Savage Jones; four children, Ebony and Eric Jones Jr., Essence and Ezekial Jones; sister, Vivian; first wife, Margaret Asburn; aunts, Mattie Holmesand Charlotte Richardson; nephews, Danny and Donyea; nieces, Danielle, Darlisa, and Delvonda and a host of other relatives and friends.
