Florine Lee Guy was a caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She was born to Marshall Greenway and Susie Foster on October 26, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. Unfortunately following a short illness, on May 4, 2021, she was called home to rest with our lord and savior at the age of 84.
All of her life she lived in Baltimore, where she raised a loving family. Florine was the only child but she was blessed with two sons and three daughters: Gregory, Carol, the late Clifton, Trisia, and Alicia (Tonya). She had a quiet, serene never complaining personality. She was a very independent soul never wanting to be a burden to anyone.
In 1965, Florine began her career at A&P Bakery, where her love of baking came to life. Many of her lifelong friends were made over her 26 year career. She loved spending time in the kitchen, making meals and baking treats for her family. Throughout her life, her home was a safe haven for many family and friends.
Affectionately known as “Mommy” and “Grandma”, she welcomed anyone to her table.
She enjoyed gardening, DIY projects around the house, and Florine was known to keep an eye on what was happening in her neighborhood. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Florine. She looked forward to listening to talk radio, watching the news and reading the newspaper to keep up with current events. She looked forward to her weekly trips to the library to get her stash of books to read. She loved to read romantic and mystery novels, watch soap operas, and visit the casino with friends. She found great joy in taking family trips that gave her memories to cherish forever.
In her adult life, Florine committed herself to Christ. She was a member of the Pastor’s Aid Ministry at Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Florine enjoyed attending Bible Study. She was delighted when her family joined her at church for Family and Friends Day. Florine was a constant giver and up until her departure shared her love with family and friends.
She is now at rest with her son, the late Clifton Guy and her soul sister the late Queenie Green. She is survived by one son, Gregory; three daughters, Carol, Trisia, and Tonya; ten grandchildren, Ureka, Ieeishya, Tiarra, Trá, Alexis, Tranise, Jasmine, Clifton, Darrel, and Dominique; ten great grandchildren, Dupree, TyTiona, Rayquan, Sun-sarae, Janae, Ziona, Malik, Destiny, Nolan, Gaziah and a host of other relatives and friends.
