Glasco Brockington, Jr., was born on August 23, 1937, to the late Glasco Brockington, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Barnes Brockington in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on June 15, 2024, at the age of 86.
He was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and last attended Frederick Douglas High School. He worked at Bethlehem Steel and Martin’s Supply Company as a receiving technician, and retired at the age of 70 from John D. Lucas Printing Company. He loved his job and really took pride in making books at the printing company.
Glasco, known as “Pops” by his grandchildren, and “Brock or King Leo” by family, friends, and others. He met the love of his life and wife, Juanita Mytris Brockington when she was attending Apex Beauty School in Baltimore. Each day he would watch her as she walked down Pennsylvania Ave going to beauty school. They began dating and in 1958 they married. Through their union, they had four beautiful daughters and one son: Janis Boatwright, Anita Seeney, Kevin Brockington (deceased), Marian Bland, and Yvette Walker. He loved and adored his wife, whom he called “Nita” so much, and was extremely proud of his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When his children were young, he often took time out for family trips to Coney Island, Kings Dominion, and to the park.
Glasco was a jack of all trades. He loved to fix things and sing. He often walked around the house singing “You sexy thing” to his Nita. He also loved to crack jokes, dance and had a passion for playing sports. He played Minor League Baseball, competed in bowling leagues and tournaments, served as a referee, led as a Boys Scout Leader, and was a fan of WWF wrestling.
He was introduced to Christ by his granddaughter and later accepted the call to receive Jesus Christ on June 18, 2023 (Father’s Day) while hospitalized at Sinai Hospital. He fought a good fight. Prior to his transition, all he wanted was to hold Nita's hand and have her by his side. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His strength, sacrifice, love, and beautiful family memories will be cherished forever.
He is preceded in death by his father Glasco Brockington Sr., mother, Elizabeth Barnes Brockington, and sisters Evangeline Wilson, Evora Wilson, the and Joanna Pettaway. He leaves to mourn his wife of 66 years, Juanita Brockington, daughters: Janis Boatwright and son-in-law Clyde Boatwright, Anita Seeney, Marian Bland and son-in-law Mallory Martin Bland, Yvette Walker and husband.
