JEWEL LEE PAYLOR passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. He was born in Roxboro, N.C. to the late Charlie F. and Dora D. Paylor. He was married to the late Beverly S. Paylor for 41 years, until her death. Jewel received his early education from the Person County Public School System in Roxboro, NC. Over the years he attended his high school class reunions to reunite with his former classmates. Jewel worked at Weyerheuser Company as a machinist until his retirement. Jewel took pride in his job. Jewel was an active member of the Dutchmen’s Club, a men’s social group. He enjoyed music, dancing and socializing with his friends. He took on a challenging role that many find difficult to face. He was a long-time compassionate caregiver for his wife, Beverly, until she passed away. Then, he later became a long-time caregiver to his devoted girlfriend, Cheryl. Jewel loved sports and although a Baltimorean, his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. His favorite baseball team was the Los Angeles Dodgers. You would always see Jewel representing his teams with paraphernalia of many hats and shirts. Jewel was an avid bowler for over 40 years. He was a member of the Greater Baltimore Bowling Association. He bowled in many leagues. He participated in multiple bowling tournaments in various states over the years. He received numerous bowling awards and trophies. He bowled many 300 games and was a member of the AMF 300 Club at Towson Bowling Alley. He was an exceptional uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He cherished giving them heartfelt, thoughtful, and meaningful gifts. Jewel leaves cherished memories to: his devoted friend, Cheryl; devoted sisters, Pearl Carver, Pansy Fowler (James), Dorothy Tomasovich (Joe), May Paylor, Stella Nelson (Roger); devoted brother, Walter Paylor; devoted nephew, Michael Paylor and niece, Michelle March (Gary, Jr.); a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Jewel was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd Paylor, Gordon Paylor and Johnnie Paylor, and sisters Glossie Paylor and Joanne Lee.
