Lillie Anderson Obituary

Lillie R. Anderson was born March 25th 1922 to the late James Frank and Sarah Elizabeth Lovick. She was one of ten children which all preceded her in death. She was educated in the public schools of Vanceboro, North Carolina. She departed this life on April 30, 2021.

As a young woman Lillie was married to the late Whispmore Pugh. From this union, one daughter Cynthia M. Perkins was born. Desiring a better environment to raise her family, she moved to Baltimore and later married William H. Anderson Sr. They remained married until his death in 2007.

Lillie was a very religious person. She later joined First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Oscar E. Brown where she remained a member until her death. She served on the church choir for many years as well as participating in other Church duties. Lillie undoubtedly loved the Lord and spoke the words of the Bible to anyone who listened. Anytime during the day you could catch her singing and praying which was something she enjoyed doing.

Lillie was everyone's friends and was always supportive of her church and the members of her residential community. She was a woman of faith and prayer and never shied away from an opportunity to share her testimony. She was a mother to everyone that knew her, always cooked more than enough, willing to share her last, and slow to speak negatively of others. She was highly respected in all the residential communities in which she lived.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Cynthia M. Perkins, one step daughter Audrey, and one best friend for over seventy years Charity Shields. Also preceding her in death, four step-children, William Anderson, Delores Anderson, Stanley Anderson, and Melvin Anderson. Five grandchildren... Doreen Perkins-Thompson, William Bryant Perkins( preceded her in death) Lionel Perkins, Kacenda Perkins and Veronica Perkins. In addition to fourteen great-grandchildren and twenty two great great-grandchildren.

Also preceded in death, her siblings, Lewis, Gladys, Thadys, Vine Allen, Clarence, Ledrew, James, Joseph, and Elsie. Alongside a host of other relatives and friends.

As Heaven placed her on the Earth March 25th 1922, God saw fit to forever make her free at last on April 30th 2021.

Certainly there was a great rejoicing in Heaven when God called her home.... "Absent from the body, present with the Lord".
