Marion “Tieny” Fleishmann was born January 21, 1928 in Baltimore City, Maryland. After battling a lengthy illness she gained her wings on May 29, 2020, in a very peaceful and graceful manner. Marion was the daughter to the late Emma Johns Matthews and William Matthews. She later married to her late husband, Madison “Mac” Fleishmann for more than forty years. Tieny as she was kindly remembered, received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Tieny’s work career started at the London Fog Coat Factory as an assembly worker, then she worked at Reads Drug Stores as a customer service clerk, and lastly she worked at the University of Maryland Baltimore County where she served as a member of the food service staff. She enjoyed entertaining everyone wherever she worked. Tieny and Mac loved to travel and often visited Mac’s hometown of Appomattox, Virginia. During the holiday time, Tieny was best known for her New Year’s Eve parties, and during, Halloween she baked candied and caramel apples for the neighborhood kids.
Marion joined New Christian Memorial Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Walter Bronson in 1990. She was an active, dedicated, and faithfulmember for many years until her health began to fail. Marion became the President of the Junior Usher Board, member of the Senior Usher Board, member of the Savvy Seniors and she developed the “The Tree of Life” wall plaque recognizing love ones that have transitioned. She made numerous friends everywhere she went. Tieny loved people and enjoyed making them laugh. She was as “real” as it gets, often referring to people as “Lil Sister” or “Lil Brother.” Although she did not have any biological children, she called every child “her children” and loved them as her own.
Marion “Tieny” is ushering for the King now. . .. Wearing her Crown Well.
Marion leaves to cherish beautiful memories of a faithful and loving Goddaughter Sonya Tanner, two sisters, Marie Holmes and Elaine Dickerson, a brother, Beverly Wade, and brother-in-law, Otis G. Dickerson, Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
