Mamie Ruth Beamon, the beloved daughter of Will and Violet Dixon, was born on February 14th, 1935, in Pitt County, North Carolina. She departed this life on August 26th, 2024, at theblessed age of 89 years old.
She was a hard worker from a young age, tending the farm with her family and ten siblings; James Lee ( Joe), Theordore (Pete), Frank (Doll), Charlie (Bud), Hubert ( De Don), John (Mutt), William, (Mutt), Beatrice, and Beulah.
Mamie moved to Baltimore in 1965 where she worked as cook for various families. She retired from Barr-Stafford aerosol warehouse after many years of service. Mamie was an entrepreneur; catering lunches for people on her job and styling hair for family and friends in her kitchen. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking for others, and her favorite pastime, playing bingo! She mastered the art of cooking soul food cuisine, her family favorites included her barbecue spare ribs, coconut-pineapple cake, potato salad, banana pudding, candied yams, and sweet potato biscuits, just to name a few!
Mamie affectionately known as “Momma” was a kind soul who would give her last. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and Aunt. Words cannot fully explain the love she showed her family, nor the love they had for her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leander Beamon; four of her children, Leon Beamon, Violena Hudson, Dorothy Beamon, and Betty Beamon.
She leaves behind her daughter, Brenda Dixon of Baltimore, MD, eight grandchildren, Corliss “Londa” Townes, Nathaniel Townes, Erica Williams, Jamal McCaskill, Sabrina Hudson, Chandra Little (Rayner), Tyishia Freamon, Bernice “Precious”King ; 14 great-grandchildren, Shalanda, Unique, Louis Jr., Imani, Demontay, Alise, Diona, Rayner III “Tripp”, Reid, Tariah, Ava, Ma’Khi, Azalea-Rayne “Boe”, and Cory; beloved friends, nieces and nephews in whom she truly adored.
