Mary Street Obituary

Mary L. Street departed this life on Sunday January 10, 2021 she passed away peacefully at home. She was born in Baltimore Maryland October 24, 1923 to Winfield H. Ross & Mary Magdalene Ross of Cambridge, Maryland.

 

“Lucille”, as she was fondly known, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Douglass High School in 1941. She married her first husband Joseph E. Jackson in 1942. Out of this union, they were blessed with three wonderful sons’ Joseph Jr., Keith and Marvin.

 

She met her second husband in 1969 and they married in 1971. As a couple they loved to travel, some of their destinations were Jamaica, Mexico, Hawaii, California and Florida. One of her favorite saying “travel while you are young”.

 

She was gainfully employed; a few of her jobs were Harbor Tunnel, Western House, U.S. Post Office in Washington, D.C,eventually retiring from Social Security Administration in 1985.

 

Lucille was a dedicated member of Christ United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars, Myra Grand Chapter O.E.S Maryland Jurisdiction since 1949.

 

Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother,cousin, aunt and friend. She and her cousins loved to get together and play cards (Pinochle) they called them the “Golden Girls” she also love to sew, cook and bake.

 

Husband Harold, her Son Joseph Jr., her Sister Pauline, and Brother Winfield preceded Lucille, in death. She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons, Keith Jackson and Marvin Jackson (Christal);seven grandchildren, Sean, Tracey, Keith Jr., Karif, India, Tierra and Nicholas; ten great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two loving nieces, Dora and Carolyn, and a host of other relatives and friends.
