Obituary

One of nine children of the late Deacon and Deaconess January and Lucile (Brown) Ham, Rose was born on January 28, 1939 in Florence, SC. She was raised with love, and in the full knowledge of Jesus Christ. Taking God at his Word, Rosa Lee “Rosalie/Rose” Ham departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the age of 84.

Rose accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Winans First Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend Herbert S. Moore. She served the congregation there faithfully as Event Coordinator, Fund Raiser, Director of Christian Education, as well as Treasurer for many years.

A woman of many talents, she received her formal education in the Baltimore, Maryland School System, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration that she put to good use. Her entrepreneurial endeavors supported not just her daughter, but every member of her family in their time of need.

Working at NASA and later at the Veterans’ Administration, she provided support for those who depended on her. Through her Real Estate holdings in Boston, Baltimore, Florida, and Arizona she has provided homes for family and friends. Hallie’s Pizza & Subs Restaurant provided not only an education for her daughter, Michele, butemployment for almost every family member at one time or another. Even in retirement, she has never stopped providing for her family whom she loved so deeply. She was the Matriarch of the family.

An accomplished world traveler seeking experiences to better understand God’s world and the people in it. From the United Kingdom and Europe to the Caribbean, from Canada to the Florida Keys, from Baltimore to California she has made a positive impact on the lives of everyone she met.

Rosalie has been preceded in death by five of her siblings: Margaret, Alexander,James, Matthew, and her youngest brother, Amos. Rosalie leaves to cherish her memory:her daughter Michele (they were everything to each other) and her son-in-law Scott, whom she loved dearly. Also, her brother Joseph (his wife Alice), and her sisters Hattieand Ineitha (she and Ineitha have shared a truly special relationship). Ineitha’s husband (Rose’s beloved brother-in-law Carson) is mourning her loss as are her nephew/God-sonKevin, niece Sheena, and nephews Albert (his wife Monique), Chalmers, their children, and a host of relatives and friends all over the world.

Her brother Amos believed that she was Super Woman, but her daughter disagreed, and still holds, that she is really Wonder Woman.
