Life Reflections
Rosetta Burnell Hill was born on October 11, 1940 to Paul and Alease Hill in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Dunbar High School, then married Edward Lee Boykin Sr. on October 26,1956. Together they had six children and stayed married for 53 years until his passing in 2007.
Rosetta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Duckie” by her family and close friends. This nickname she received from her older brother Harvey who could not pronounce “Dimples.”
Rosetta worked for Askew Transportation, Food A Rama, and then Village Thrift for over 20 years. She was widely known for her baking skills, especially cakes, cookies, pies, brownies and cupcakes. She supplied many of her brothers and sisters with beautiful wedding cakes, anniversary cakes and so on. She enjoyed making cakes for the pioneer schools, circuit overseer visits and other special occasions.
Rosetta was a faithful servant of Jehovah for 50 years, assisting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in dedicating their lives to Jehovah.
She is survived by: her six children, Lavar Boykin (Charlene), Tanya Jones, Edward Lee Boykin Jr. (Melissa), Tamera Jeannie Boykin, Robin Cheryl Williams, and Marcel Durant Boykin (Lorraine); her siblings, Harvey Hill, Paulette Hill and William (Billy) Starks and their wives, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
